Cannot Reinstall FP2000

I recently upgraded to a new pc and Windows XP Pro. The
new machine came preloaded with Works, Word 2000, and the
associated Office (2002) components. I moved my old
applications, including Office 2000, etc. to the new
machine using AlohaBob Application Relocator. The move
was generally successful.

However, I've experienced some stability problems with
FrontPage 2000 (originally purchased as an upgrade to
98), so I decided to reinstall from the original disk.
After going through the inital info entry (name, cd key,
etc. - not sure why it had to do that since FP2000 was
already on the machine), the installer attempted
and "failed to find qualifying product" and bailed out.
The program is in c:/program files/microsoft
office/office (after all, I've been using it), and there
are 83 registry entries (mostly under
HKLM/software/microsoft/...) with frontpage as key,value,
or data, and they indicate version 4.

Although I can lumber along with the current, marginally
stable FP2000 installation, but I'd like to re-install
just to "freshen up" things. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
dds

Your first paragraph should have given you a clue. You shouldn't *move* an
application from one computer to another. You should have uninstalled it
from the old system and installed it on the new system. Uninstall the
program and start from scratch.

1. Using program replicators to "move" a program is "iffy" at best because there
are registry entries that they can't get to to move. Entries such as the product
key which are "hidden"

2. FrontPage 98 lived in a different location than FP 2000, therefore the
replicator probably didn't move them.
So, when you try to reinstall the installer can't find the files.

You have 2 options, Run Detect and Repair from the FrontPage help menu, or try
the install again and when it asks for the qualifying program, place the
FrontPage 98 CD-ROM in the drive and point the computer to it. The install
should then start.

Be advised however, that the installation may fail because the program is
already "registered."
