Cannot recieve faxes

My wife bought a fax modem becasue her fax machine quit
working. Using fax console, I can send but I can't
receive. I am using my primary phone line since I don't
fax a whole lot. Getting an error when I try and
receive. Any ideas?

Sorry, about that, I cannot recall any error message
other than "an error occured while trying to retrieve fax"

as far as the modem, any suggestions how I can find out?
In the mean time I will look around.

Yes, it is listed. I went thru and uninstalled and
reinstalled the modem. Looked for a new driver, none
found. Hoping this will work..I'll have to wait till my
wife recieves a fax. Any other suggestions would be
welcomed.

Any other error messages? Anything in Event Viewer?

the fax tries to answer for 1 minute and then a message
pops up saying "an error as occrred while trying to
recieve fax"

I am going to do a little more research this weekend.
Also the modem she bought says that it is XP compatiable.

The only way to track this down further will be to enable PSS and debug
logging of the actual transmissions. If you're fairly comfortable with
editing the registry, I can send you instructions.
