On my WinXp Professional Sp1 I can't receive network popup message, I can
send them to any user on the network but not receive. I've no firewall, nor
any other programs that can restrict network access. Since a few months ago
(I don't know exaclty when ) I was be able to receive any messages. The
strange thing is that the user send me a message with no error but I receive
nothing.

Can anyone help me?
Thank you, Massimo Ponte.

Hi,

Check your settings here:

Go to Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services. Double click the
Messenger Service and set it to Automatic

The service is started, remember that I can send message to all other users.

Thank you,

At the time of all the fuss about the Blast worm, you may have taken the
advice to disable the Messenger service in Control Panel - Admin tools.
That was a quick patch of the thing Blast was aimed at. Provided you
have the system update for it (or SP2), and have the firewall up and
enabled to block NetBIOS from the internet connection you can enable
the messenger service again

As I told above the messenger service is enabled, I run ad-ware, spybot, NAV
2004 and no virus, spyware, ad-aware were found on my computer, but popup
messages are still absent.

Thank you.
