Cannot read system information

All,

When I try to run "System Information", I get an error msg box reading
"Windows cannot open Help and Support because a system service is not
running. To fix this problem, start the service named 'Help and
Support'".

So I googled around and started this service both manually and
automatically. Both time it stopped immediately and said it'll start
up when needed.

Fine. I try to read System Information again and the error happens
again.

How do I fix this? I need to read the RAM on my PC.

Not sure how to fix your System Information utility, but if you only need to
know how much RAM you have installed, right-click on My Computer and select
Properties (or double-click on the System icon in your Control Panel).

Your processor type and amount of RAM will be shown at the bottom of the
General tab.

Check the dependencies of that service and you'll see that it depends on
the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service. Make sure that its startup type
has been set to "Automatic" and that this service is running. If this is
already the case, scan the system for Malware since that behavior is
not normal at all.

If you're talking about the *amount* of RAM being installed:
Control Panel > System - or - Start > Run: DXDIAG

Hi Sashi

Did you reboot after setting the service to Automatic? It should then
run even when you're not using any Windows Help programs. Saying it will
start when needed sounds as if it were still set to Manual.
