Cannot play videos in IE7

F

fornewsgroups

For example if I go to youtube it will say "Hello, you either have
JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player.
Get the latest flash player. "

But I DO have both installed and "on"

I think it has to do with some of the ActiveX add-ons I deleted through
the manage options.

And I can't find a specific place to download "ActiveX".

Help please.

Use another browser, Opera and FireFox work just fine on youtube.com,
yet youtube won't work for me with IE unless ActiveX is enabled.

ActiveX should never be enabled in IE.

"An ActiveX control can be an extremely insecure way to provide a
feature. Because it is a Component Object Model (COM) object, it can
do anything the user can do from that computer. It can read from and
write to the registry, and it has access to the local file system.
From the moment a user downloads an ActiveX control, the control may
be vulnerable to attack because any Web application on the Internet
can repurpose it, that is, use the control for its own ends whether
sincere or malicious."
