My stand-alone home computer is running Windows XP Pro and Norton Internet
Security 2005.

It cannot be pinged.

What could be the problem?

Thanks.

It means the firewall is doing its job.

If it is truly a "stand alone" computer then it can't be pinged
because it has no network connectons - LAN, Internet or otherwise. It
"stands alone."
