Dear all,
when I try to open a tif file, which is displayed as an icon, from within a
word document, i get following message:
The server application, source title, or item cannot be found
Make sure the application is properly installed, and that it has not been
deleted, moved or renamed.

It seems that this is happening on office2K only. When opening the same doc
through word XP, it opens the imaging program

Any ideas or help is appreciated,

Hi,

thanks for the tip but this doesn't do the trick... symantec antivirus
corporate edition v9 is installed, but there is no such option to disable
office plug-in in this software...

Search for a file named OFFICEAV.DLL on the hard drive (be sure to
include system and hidden files/folders in the search options). If you
find it, note the folder where it is located, and use the "regsvr32 /u"
method described in KB329820 to unregister the DLL.

tif/tiff files are associated to the ms office imaging program... on both
versions of word... i already changed to other imaging programs but no can
do, also enabling.disabling DDE doesn't help...

I don't know what you mean by "the ms office imaging program". Office
XP (Word 2002) includes the Microsoft Office Document Imaging
application, but Office 2000 does not. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=224034 "'The server application,
source file, or item cannot be found' error message when you work with
Word 2000 document objects".

well that's what i mean microsoft office docuemnt imaging, and in w2k you
have imaging for windows program... i've checked the article you mention
before, but no chance... i'm starting to think that it was indeed created
with a program that is not available anymore...
thanks for your help so far!!
