When I click on C: on My computers page, it does not open and it says-

" Windows cannot find copy.exe"

The same file had a virus so was quarantined by Symantec Antivirus. Pls help

copy.exe is NOT part of a Windows Vista install. It must, in fact, be the
virus itself. It would seem that there is still more left on your computer.
Did you go to the symantec web site and search on copy.exe? They may have
manual removal steps available.

This infection has been around for a long time now.

I am guessing that you upgraded your computer from Windows XP and that this
was previously on your computer. OR, you initially ran Vista without any
virus protection when you went onto the internet (remember, antivirus was
not initially available for Vista).

Hi,

Right click C:\, what command is in bold?

Also, try this: Click start, type CMD, then right click the menu entry for
the command prompt and use the option to 'run as administrator'. From the
prompt, run these:

C:\Windows\System32>CD\ hit <enter>, then:

C:\>del /y copy.exe this should delete that file if it exists on the
root.

Then close the prompt and retry looking at C:\.
