Cannot open multiple IE windows!!

For some reason, I can no longer open IE in multiple
windows! When I have one window open, and go to open the
second, it closes the first one. Please, anyone ever seen
this or know what the problem is? I am on XP SP2 with IE
6.0.

This XP SP2 is a "Fly in the ointment"! Many people have had this problem
before XP SP2. (which may or may not be fixed by conventional means.) Now we
must add this SP2 thing into the mix. Sheesh!

OK here:
Control Panel>IE Options>Advanced tab>browsing section> un-check "re-use
windows for launching shortcuts">apply>OK out.

No joy, then:
Hold shift key>click link

Still no joy? Then:
You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after you
click a link
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q281679&sd=tech

Quit all programs that are running.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message,
click OK.

If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of
the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file
names below):
Shdocvw.dll
Msjava.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Mshtml.dll
Browseui.dll
Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)

Thanks for responding. I tried all your suggestions and no-
go. I know this has to be a registry issue, just not sure
where to look. Please respond fi you have any other
suggestions. If/when I find a solution I will post it.

Hi,
From IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced> Browsing> uncheck "Reuse windows
for launching shortcuts."

And... you have a program running which is blocking pop-up windows-
something like Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, a firewall,
Earthlink (or another pop-up blocker) My IE2 (a shell for IE) etc.
Yahoo Companion is a very common cause.

You'll have to turn off the feature that's blocking new windows or, perhaps,
uninstall the program.

I have tapped all of the ideas I can readily call to my command on this one
for the moment. I wish I had one more "Aha... OK, try this" in my hat for
you to try. IF something springs into mind I will post back. How about what
Don Varnau has offered? Did that have any positive effect?

It *could* be some XP SP-2 thing... but I'm not sure. :-\

And..., you are welcome BTW. <s>
