Cannot open db1, db2, db3....

I have an MS Access 2k3 database that was inadvertently set on "compact on
close." While "compact on close" was enabled it was creating "other"
databases (db1, db2, db3). I disabled "compact on close" and can open the
original database, but cannot open the "other" databases. I get an error
msg. that says (unrecognized database format.....). For db4, I get an error
msg. that says "The databse is in an unexpected state; MS Office Access can't
open it." I think there is data in these "other" databases that the original
one does not have.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I read my post and saw that I forgot to enter my question....sorry about that.

There isn't anyway to open the "other" databases?
