Cannot open attachments

Cannot open attachments in Outlook Express because the mail attachment is an
unknown type and when i try to open it, it says that i should create an
association in the folder options panel. How do i do this .What file do i
use

Contact the person who sent you th attachement and found out what
program created it.

Ouch .. correction to the last...Contact the person who sent you _the_
attachment and _find_ out what program created it.
 
If you are sure that the attachment is safe to download or open, use the
following method:

Start Outlook Express.
Tools>Options.
Click the Security tab, click to clear the Do not allow attachments to
be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus check box under
Virus Protection> OK.

You ask in a group that has OUTLOOK EXPRESS or OE in the title.
Notice this group does not have those names in the title.

His question has absolutely nothing to do with Outlook Express
and is completely appropriate here. The fact that the file
arrived via Outlook Express is irrelevant. Essentially he's
asking how to open a file of unknown type.

Andy, you open any file with a program which recognizes the file
type and knows what to do with it. If you'll tell us what the
type is (what's the extension, the last three characters of the
file name, after the dot?), one of us can very likely help you.
