Cannot open attachments in Outlook 03. Only save.

I am running Office 03 with all patches applied on top of Windows XP SP2.

When I attempt to open an attachment in Outlook I am prompted with an
attachment security warning that will only allow me to save the file. This
happens with all file types, even .doc.

I verified the level2 registry key is formatted correctly and confirmed with
my Exchange admin that this is not an Exchange rule.

Thank you for the articles but they did not work. On the advise of a friend,
I completly deleted the level1remove registry key and that ended the problem.
It seems that since these file types were not blocked in the first place,
having them in the level1remove key forced the save only option. By deleting
the key, I can now open from the email.

Mark,
Thank you for making this post. Your solution worked for me as well. I have
been struggling with this for about 3 weeks looking for an answer. I too
found no luck with the same KB articles. I have the same environment -
Out03/XPProSp2.

Thank you again,
Stephen

God bless you, man!! This has been driving me insane for weeks and FINALLY I
have the answer. I had gone through pages and pages of documentation about
setting up the "Outlook Security Settings" folder in the public folders in
Exchange and then adding the registration key to each client, but NOTHING
seemed to work. One little zap of this Level1Remove registry key, and I'm
back in business. Thanks a ton for sharing this information!!!

I'm just curious now as to how that Level1Remove registry key got put in
there in the first place. Mine was set up with the following extensions
added - pdf, xls, zip, and doc. I'm using a new Office 2003 Pro CD for
deployment with SP1 added in (by me - not on the CD). I had set up Office on
brand new XP SP2 machines and wondered if XP SP2 might have something to do
with it. Anybody have any ideas on this?

Thanks again for the help!!
