cannot open attachments at the other end

I have Outlook 2K.
When I send email with *.doc and *.xls attachments the
receiving ends cannot open them. They would receive
attachments something like winmail.dat. The attachments
cannot be opened with email accounts such as @hotmail,
and @dom.com

Change your message format to plain text or html and consider disabling Word
2000 as your e-mail editor.
