Cannot open any Administrative Tools

My operating system is XP. I am unable to open any administrative tools,
i.e. Task manager, defrag., Computer Management, etc. I can't even open
Event Viewer to see what might be going on. When I click on any of the
above, it flashes in front of me then immediately disappears. I have
scanned for virus' and none were found. I was able to scan disk for errors
and again none was found.

Can someone help?

Hi CCP,

Viruses and other malware cause this symptom. Though you already have an
anti-virus package installed, run the stand-alone scanner from Trend Micro
(Sysclean Package). It's capable of eliminating most keyloggers, trojans

Ramesh, thank for replying, but unforturnately it did not find any virus,
trojans etc. in my computer.

Could it be something like a deleted extension file that won't allow it to
stay up? My daughter just informed me that she deleted some of her programs,
is it possible that she deleted something that was needed?

Hi CCP,

Try a System Restore rollback. If that does not help, inspect the running
processes using Process Manager, which you can download from
www.sysinternals.com
