Cannot log in to PDC for 2000

I have a 2K server, and after the latest windows updates, I cannot log
in. It is setup as a PDC, and when the login screen comes up, it trys
to log the local admin account into it's domain that it controls.

Then, after sitting for awhile, it says cannot find domain mydomain.

The only other indiciation of a problem is that the "Starting network
connections" sometimes takes a long time to start at boot, and
sometimes I don't even get the login at boot.

How can I (from the recovery console), either change this from PDC to
standalone or something so I can log into it?

I remember a server did this a little while ago and it was to do with the
UPS software update,(APC)
I think he terminal server in the back or did the repair over the top..

So, if anyone is following this, I just ghosted off an image of my HDD
and re-loaded.

Fred,

If it is the APC issue here is how we were able to fix that issue.
Note: I did not try this on a domain controller.

1. Reboot into safe mode
2. Log on as a local admin
3. stop the APC service and disable it from starting.
4. Reboot regularly and you should be able to login.

For our data center it was not neccesary to have the APC software
installed so after we seen this issue APC was then removed from all
servers.

Well, I couldn't log in in save mode, or safe mode without networking.
It was just hosed.

Thanks for the help, though.
