Recently created a few new tables in the back end part of my database.
(Access 2002). This resides on a server.

When I attempt to get external data --> link tables, the access programme
locks up and then crashes.

This problem does not occur on any other of the pc's linked to the back end.
Having said this, all the functionality of my front end works perfectly.

Any ideas what the cause is? I presume there must be either

a) my version ofthe front end is damaged (although it compiles successfully
and compact and repair is succesful)

b) my access software has somehow corrupted

c) hidden option number 3 - which i have no clue about

Thanking you all in anticipation

If copies of the front-end on other computers work I would try linking the
new tables from there then copy the front-end file over to the computer
having the problem.

A corrupted front-end file on the troublesome computer is a good
possibility. If you wanted to do some testing, try copying the file before
linking in the new tables then try the new file on the troublesome computer.
If it works, then a bad front-end file was the problem. If it still doesn't
work, then there is something else wrong on the computer. It may be Access
or something else. You could try a repair install of Office or just link the
tables first on another computer and copy the file with the linked tables
over to the troublesome computer. Keep an eye open for further problems.
