I have a pc with 98 SE installed. I formatted the drive and tried to install
XP, but apparently there is a boot sector error so every time I try and
install XP it gets so far then comes up with a blue screen and an error
message ***STOPx0000007B (0xFCC3B63C,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000). It
suggests reformatting which I have done several times and still no luck, any
ideas??

This wont be ram, It is most likely a ide controller job. You will need to
update your bios. Research it a bit and find out if your motherboad can take
windows XP.

If you know the manufacturer of the motherboard and model go to there
website and look for your motherboard, there will be downloads available,
there should be one for your bios. Follow the instruction they give you end
upgrade your bios.

If not you will have to get the model of your bios turn on your computer and
hit the pause button on the keyboard. Usually on the bottom there is a line
of writing, this will be the model number. Search this number on the internet
and get a bios upgrade. Follow the instruction they give you end upgrade your
bios.

If upgrading the bios still makes windows XP blue screen on startup it means
the HArd drive is broken.
