Cannot install XP on a new HD.

I’ve a pentium3 computer(#1) with XP (originally Win-me) and it runs fine.
When I put a 30G hard disk (HD) in place of the original 20G, I have the
following problems:
1. I got “NTLDR missing†error when I install XP on this 30G HD.
2. I was able to install XP on this 30G HD with a second computer (#2),
but the HD installed in computer#2 won’t boot on the computer #1.
3. When I try to install recovery console, I got “Setup cannot continue
because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on
the CD.â€
Can any of you experts please help?

To do a clean install boot the Windows XP install CD-Rom. When you get to
the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions found. After you
delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again restart the pc booting
the CD-Rom to avoid unexpected drive letter assignments with your new
install.

Be sure to apply SP2 or at least these two below to your new install before
connecting to any network.

That is correct, it won't! Install the operating system while the drive is
in the computer you plan to use the operating system with.

That's what you get when you try to CHEAT the system! One license - one
machine.
