Cannot install software program files directory??

I'm trying install one software to program files directory... I have removed
that software and it's registry entries... However Vista says always that
directory still exists there...

I think main reason is that I have no permission to write that directory
even I have administrator rights on my user id. Also I am not able install
that software in administrator mode because then all program settings goes to
wrong user id...

I've tried also change setting in UAC but that did not help...

what could I do?

Vista imposes limits on users poking around the system, and that
includes the Program Files folder. Some software that is not
"Vista-ready", like Forte Agent v3/v4, should not be installed in the
default folder because Vista will not allow changes to the files in
that folder.

The simple solution is to put the data files in almost any other
folder that does not have permissions to limit the read/write access.
what could I do?

How about installing it in another user defined folder?

Hi Pasi,

As to the directory, try taking ownership of it by right clicking the folder
and clicking properties. On the security tab you can click advanced and edit
the owner on the appropriate tab.

To install, instead of disabling UAC or logging on as administrator, instead
right click the setup icon, choose "run as administrator". Doing this should
allow the program to install properly.

Pasi:

I think you may have fallen prey to Vista virtualization (an
abomination, IMHO). Do you have a folder

c:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramFiles\<AppName>

? If so, you might consider removing it.

If not, it could be something else entirely ....
