cannot install printer software

I have an HP photosmart 1000 but it will not install, is there anyway of
getting it to work?
 
Did you use elevated permissions? Does HP have any info on the printer's
support page about drivers for Vista?

I don't even know what elevated permissions are (sorry), nothing about vista
drivers on web site
 
You could use the compatibility wizard and run the printer setup program for
Windows XP. I also have a Photosmart printer and this was how I got it to
install. Running the non-compatible programs through the compatibility
wizard saved me a lot of headaches.
