HI,
I recently purchased a new computer with xp and wanted to transfer my laptop
(also xp) files and settings. The easiest way for me to do this would be
through a network.
I have connected my new pc and my old laptop through my switch. My dsl modem
connects to the switch. I can connect to the internet with one pc at a time
(my modem only allows one IP). The LAN connection area says "connected," but
when I run the networking wizard, I can never get any folder to show up in
the my network places on my new pc. The older laptop has the shared folder
documents in its network place, but it cannot connect to the workgroup.
Neither computer can recognize the other.
Also, when I try to add a network place (the workgroup created through the
home networking wizard) to either pc, since it never showed up, the screen
freezes and I have to exit out of it.
Does anyone have any idea of what I am doing wrong? I turned off windows
firewall. I am at a lost. Thanks for the help
