Cannot get SendObject to run

L

Leslie Isaacs

Hello All

I am using A97 and W2kpro.

I have a new PC that I am trying to set up exactly the same as an existing
PC. On the existing PC outlook express is the default (and only) email
program, and I have no problem using the SendObject access macro command. On
the new PC again outlook express is the default (and only) email program,
and with the same account as on the existing PC, but the SendObject access
macro command doesn't run - when I try, nothing happens. I cannot see what
is different between the setups of the two PCs.

Hope someone can help.

Many thanks
Leslie Isaacs

Thanks for your reply.

I have not tried that, so will do when I get back to the office - which
unfortunately will not be until tonight (that's ~10.00pm BST). I will post
back here with the result (although as it's almost the weekend I'm not sure
when you will see it: I'll check for any response from you over the weekend
and Monday!)

Regarding toe Edit Message argument, I've always had this set to No.
Changing this to Yes would be a mild irritaion (given that we will never
wish to edit the message) - is that what you are sugesting?

Thanks again
Leslie Isaacs

Les,

At this stage I am suggesting it as a trouble-shooting measure, not as a
permanent solution. Just wondering what will happen, which might give
us a clue as to where the problem lies.

Hello Steve

Thanks for your reply.

I set the Edit Message parameter to Yes, but apart from bringing up the New
message dialogue box for me to edit the message, this had no effect - after
clicking the Send button nothing happened.

It may or may not be relevant that I initially had a problem getting Outlook
Express to be available as the default Email program: in Internet
Explorer>Internet Options>Programs, initially the only option available was
Outlook. With advice from Vincenzo Di Russo in the Outlook Express newsgroup
I followed the instructions at
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive/answers3.htm#default_client, which
succeeded in getting Outlook Express into that option list, and it is now
selected. Normal emailing works OK, but when I try to run the SedObject
access macro command I first get a 'Choose Profile' dialogue box, which is
prepopulated with the account tat is set up in Oulook Express: I click on
OK, and ... nothing happens. I have also noticed that if I click on Reply
Group (having highlighted a posting in this - or any - newsgroup) I go
straight into the New Message screen as normal, but if I click on Reply I
get the 'Choose Profile' dialogue box - and I'm pretty sure that after
accepting the prepopulated Profile and clicking the send button, nothing is
sent (I have just tried this with your reply below!).

I realise this may be getting out of the domain of this access newsroup, but
would be very grateful indeed if you could help.

Many thanks
Les

I'm sorry, Les, I think I will have to bow out of this one. I think it
is an issue related to your setup of your email client, and I suggest
you are most likely to get good help with this if you go back to the
Outlook Express experts.
