Trying to Backup the registry on a CD. I am trying to reinstall OE and IE. Got Microsoft knowledge base article 308422. It says to go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System tools/ then click BACKUP
There is no backup to click. I have searched everywhere I can think of to find Backup in XP and can find nothing I can use
Am running Windows XP Prof
Can anyone help. JT

JT;
I would've bet your running XP Home.
Look on your XP CD.

E:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP\NTBACKUP.MSI

You were right, it is the Home addition. Don't know why I thought it was the Prof
Another problem
XP came installed on the computer. I don't have a disk.
Any suggestions?

JT;
NTBACKUP will auto-install with Pro, but not with Home.
I know of nowhere to download it. I think it's worthless anyway.

Go here:
http://home.t-online.de/home/lars.hederer/erunt/

Download both of these:
ERUNT The Emergency Recovery Utility NT
NTREGOPT NT Registry Optimizer
Install both.
Then Run NTREGOPT | Reboot | Run ERUNT (backup to CD)
