cannot find after automated install and reboot

I went through windows update, installed the software,
and rebooted, but I cannot find the program anywhere. no
shortcuts on desktop or start menu, no MS help entries,
no trace that the program exists on my computer at all,
and now the MS website says that I am updated.

any ideas? is this common? did I not do something right?

You have successfully (probably, read on!) installed the Malicious Software
Removal Tool. This tool installs, runs, and cleans a number (8, I think,
this month) of prevalent viruses from a system. Once it has done this job
it deletes itself, leaving behind some traces in the registry and a log
file--%windowsroot%\debug\mrt.log

So--take a look for that log file--it is a simple text file--and it'll tell
you that the tool ran and your system was clean. That was all you needed to
to!

Now--if you are interested in the beta Antispyware tool, check out Andre's
link.
