Cannot Execute Applications from "My Documents"

Unitl recently I was accumstomed to going to My Docs, finding the file I
Wanted in one orf the subfolders and double clicking to execute the file. I
can no longer do this. For Exmaple: I have a subfolder in My Docs nameed
Excel. From within the Excel Folder I have several more folders. When I go
to one of these and dboule click I just get an hour glass and have to go to
windows task manager to get out of the "not responding" mode. On the other
hand, I can execute Excel directly, go to file/open and navigate to the file
wanted through My Docs/Excel/Subfoler and all goes well. The same is true
for word files and for Access files.

Most times I can execute other files not related to MS Office applications
from within the My Docs folder - but not always.

I have reinstalled MS Office. I have changed the folder and subfolder names
but none of this seems to work.

What can I do to overcome this?

Rightclick the file, then click "Open with...", now select the program you
want to use. Then while in Windows Explorer, click tools>Folder options>
apply to all folders.

Thanks for the response. However this did not work in this case. When I
click the file and do "open with" and select Excel the process stops at that
point. I cannot get to the tools function to apply the open with to all
folders. This is reallys strange since it does it with primarily the MS
Office files. I have other data files in My Docs and can double click and
open them fine. Must be something to do with the way office is working.
When it locks up and I go to task manager it says that the subfolder is not
responding rather than the file.

Any other suggestions? Thanks
