Cannot easily resize/reposition text boxes...

Last month, my computer was re-formatted. AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!! Things
are not working correctly, and I'm getting error messages, but that is beside
my question.

I reinstalled Office 2000 Pro. Told most of it to work off the computer
rather than the disk (our disks are wearing out). I cannot get the text
boxes to resize/reposition easily - they keep jumping around, or go larger or
smaller than what I want. I have tried using the alt key and dragging, but
they still jump all over, or automatically enlarge or reduce.

Do I need to reinstall Word again? Prior to the reformat, I had Word
working just the way I wanted it to work. Could use the alt key to drag text
boxes, move tabs, etc. Now, none of that works, and I'm FRUSTRATED!!!

Display the Drawing toolbar ( View | Toolbars | Drawing ). On the
Drawing toolbar, click on Draw | Grid. To fix your larger/smaller
problem, change the horizontal and vertical spacing to 1/8" or some such
relatively small increment. To fix your Alt+drag problem, check the
"Snap objects to grid" and "Use margins" boxes and uncheck the "Snap
objects to other objects" box. Click on Default | OK. If you are
prompted to save changes to your global template when you exit Word, say
yes.
