cannot delet a file

cannot read from source file or disk

I cannot delet some file folders. I get a error say cannot
read source. I can delet the contents of the folder though.

any suggestions please.

rmdir directoryname

open a cmd window, right click on the border, choose
properties, then the color tab. Change the background and
text color to something that doesn't scare you.

Thanks for the advice-- good to have a sense of Humor.

I tried what you suggested-- no luck.
I tried safe mode -- no luck

whats weired is when I go to the file under the command
promp. and type "dir"> it shows the folder in question
but rmdir does not see the file.
any ideas?

By the way... that wasn't me... the anonymous... hehe
Back to the case:

The error "cannot read source" could also be a problem under WINNT\...
- Have you ever done a CHKDSK on both, the System and the datadisc?
Before... Save your imp. data! Then do the chkdsk /f Option. And you also
have to do that in a commandbox...

Uff... Still no clue!

RMDIR is for removing a directory, NOT a file. A responce of source not
found may mean that you are attempting the DELETE in command.com instead
of CMD.exe.

Try Start, Run, CMD and then navigate to the file location and do DEL.
