Cannot Create Toolbar--possible solution

Mike Burnham

I've had success in overcoming this error by running a repair on IE6.
This allowed me to add the user's toolbar back to the taskbar. This
was on a W2k machine.

*****
IE6 Repair (for Windows 2000)

Click Start/Run/

rundll32.exe setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance

When the dialog pops up, choose "Repair Internet Explorer".

Reboot PC.
*******
Log in, and right-click the taskbar, choose Toolbars/Quick Launch.

This seems to have worked for me. It appears that the original
problem was due to spyware/registry interaction. Hopefully this
helps. I tried all other suggestions from the postings here and at
Microsoft. The IE repair did the trick.

Mike

Thanks Mike! I ran the repair and actually got a message
saying that it fails (I wish I'd written it down), but
just ran IE6 Setup again and it worked fine.

Now if I could just assure it won't happen again...

Mike- This did the trick. Great find! I just wish there
was an easy way to round up all the users having this
problem on the message board and point them here. I'm
going to paste your fix to the discussions that I have
joined on this.

Thanks again,
John
