Cannot create Photo Album, get error message: PP has to close

Using HP Pavilion laptop, Windows XP, My Pictures, & PowerPoint 2003. When
try to create Photo Album, get error message - "PP has encountered a problem
& needs to close" - every time. Have tried importing pictures from different
sources, etc. Have used this function successfully on a friend's computer.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried going to the Help menu and selecting Detect and Repair? That
might correct the problem.

I had not tried that before (never had even noticed it), but did now & it
didn't help. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you have service pack 1 installed? Make sure you do.

At what point in the process does this occur?
