I have found a couple of posts which seem to mention the problem I am
seeing but I have seen no solutions that I could find. Sorry if its in
a faq somewhere.

anyway here is the situation. I reply to an email with outlook 2003
using word 2003 as my editor. at this point I would like to select the
text in the "to:" field and copy (ctrl-c) and paste it in lets say a
notepad window. however when I use ctrl-c ctrl-v all i get is the
name/nick name of the person and not the email address. is there a way
to change this behavior? the only other thing I seem to be able to do
is double click the entry in the to field which brings up the email
properties window and then select the "email address" field and copy
that. its a small extra step, but it is annoying that what i select in
the to: field isnt all copied with ctrl-c.

thanks for any help

Use right click, copy if the address is showing in the To line instead of
keyboard shortcuts. Right click and select properties if it isn't and copy
the address there.

I have the same problem but I have about 60 names in my to line. Is there a
fast way to copy and paste only the email address and not the display name
into excel? Clicking properties on each name and pulling the emal address
would take too long.
