Cannot connect to server

Rodney Malcolm

I am having problems connecting to the server. I connect, then it tries to
authorise, then I am asked for my username and password then I get the error
that user name/password is invalid. All this is done through Windows Vista
Mail and my account is with Yahoo. Any suggestions?

I would either need the complete error message, or if there
isn't one, the exact name of the incoming mail server.

Gary, Here is the error I'm getting: The connection to the server has
failed. Subject 'e: Your inheritance matter - see below', Account:
'pop.att.yahoo.com', Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0

BTW...I am connected wirelessly. I also had the problem where I couldn't
delete messages, but with your help, I was able to fix that. Now out of the
blue, I can't send email form windows mail.

Please advise.
Thanks, Geri

Please change the port number for the SMTP server to 465 (instead
of 25), and enable SSL.
You can make this change by going to Tools, Accounts, select the
pop.att.yahoo.com account, Properties, Advanced. While you are
there, also change the incoming server port to 995, with SSL.
Your ISP has the instructions here:
