Cannot close IE windows

After using IE 6 for a few days without problem and
without any obvious cause I can no longer close the open
IE window. IE works normally but the only way to
shutdown IE is with CTL ALT DEL. I'm running XP so I go
back to a restore point and all is well for a while.
Any suggestions?

This is probably being caused by spyware/parasite programs.

Download, install, *update* and run both of these programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ (Remove items listed in red-others are
optional.)
Both programs should be updated after installation- before use.

Less likely... but you might disable (for diagnostic purposes) other
programs such as anti-virus, security, ad-blockers, etc. You might need to
reinstall one of them.
