Cannot change cell color?

Has anyone come accross where in Excel you cannot change
the color of a cell? I can though change the font color
in the cell? It was working fine last week. I am running
Office XP.

The high contrast setting may be turned on. There's information in the

If this is a problem with all files with coloured cells, the high
