Hi Avery
Hi Jan,
Yes, that is what I get.
There is a way to configure IE so that it displays the results in Internet
explorer in the format of hyperlinks.
I've actually had this build of this machine do this before, and I'm not
sure what has changed.
I'm not quite sure where it is you want to view the Favorites. Do you want
them to show in the sidebar or side panel within IE? If not please clarify
where you were viewing them in IE before. How did you set up this view
before? Also, have you added any 3rd party toolbars or Google or Yahoo
programs? Have you made any changes or adjustments at about the time the
problem started?
Here are a few things you might try. Ignore those that may not apply:
Go to Tool >Internet Options >Advanced tab
Check"Enable Personalized Favorites Menu"
Click on Apply then click OK.
Also, click on the Favorites Icon on the lower toolbar, not the top one.
This should open the sidebar for the Favorites.
or..
Show All Items on the Start Menu or Favorites Menu

and....
Display all the links on the favorites menu

Open Registry Editor and navigate to this location:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders]
In the right-pane, double-click "Favorites" and copy the value and post it
here.
The correct value should be: "%USERPROFILE%\Favorites"
or........................
Use FolderRedirector utility and reset the shell folder paths for Favorites
to the default values (both user shell folders and shell folders registry
keys)

In XP..there is a local user policy for Favorites, and there is a check box
to delete the Favorites and only use the Favorites provided in the policy.
Check to be sure this setting is not selected.
or...
It might be an incorrect Registry setting:
You can change the value of Favorites in the Registry in these
two keys: (ignore the second if the value is not there)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders
also..
It could also be that the Favorites folder is corrupted and you will need to
create a new one:
Create a new Favorites folder as per the instructions here
