Cannot access Linksys Router with Windows XP

I have a computer running Windows XP that is connected to
a Linksys router and DSL modem. I also have a computer
running Windows NT that is connected to the same router.
A few days ago I discovered the XP computer can no longer
access the router or inernet, but the NT computer can.
The green light on the router for the XP connection is
blinking rapidly while the light for the NT connection is
steady. I spoke to Verizon DSL and Linksys technical
support and neither could help me. I tried uninstalling
the network card, but it did not help. Incidentally, I
can access the internet with the XP computer if I connect
it directly to the DSL modem. Does anyone have a solution?

Seen this post as I was having the same problem with new
XP machine. XP would not auto detect the router IP
address. It would work just fine when connected directly
to my DSL modem. My router is in my basement office and XP
machine on second floor. LAN cable is about 100 Foot long.
I do not know if the cable is bad especially when my
Laptop will work to the router from upstairs or if it is
the length. But, I carried XP machine down stairs and
plugged in a 20 foot cable and it works fine discovering
the IP address. I do not have another long cable to try,
but if I do get one I'll let you know what happens. Have
you tried a different LAN cable. Hope this helps,

Yes I did try another LAN cable. The cable is not the
problem, but thanks for asking. I still have not found a
solution.

I am having this exact same problem. For some strange reason, XP machine cannot connect with Linksys router. However, it can connect directly through modem. I've called every support imaginable and tried everything I can think of. I really need some help on this one.....
