When you click the Internet Explorer icon, window may flash a second and quits. Or, it may show an Error-Reporting dialog. This may be due to a malware Browser Helper Object which causes Internet Explorer process to terminate. If you see the Error-Reporting dialog, click "to see what data this report contains" and identify the Module Name causing this error. In most cases, it may be the spyware DLL. Therefore, reinstalling Internet Explorer [in case of a spyware DLL] may not help.
To test with: Disable third-party browser extensions in Internet
Explorer
1. Click Start, Run, and type inetcpl.cpl. [or control inetcpl.cpl]
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Browsing, clear the Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart) check box.
4. Restart Internet Explorer.

*Then, you need to eliminate the parasites*

I am using Windows XP Professional. Whenever I want to download a product or my windows updates, my explorer disappears. When I click on the Internet Explorer icon nothing happens. To get Internet explorer to work I have to reset my computer to a point before I downloaded the updates or product. As long as I don't download anything Explorer works fine. how can I solve this problem?
Thanks
