Cannot access files on my old hard drive

I recently bought a new computer. I have the old hard drive installed as a
slave in the new computer so I can access my old files. The old drive has XP
Pro installed with me as an administrator with a password. The new drive has
XP Home installed. I can access any of the other user's files but my not my
own. When I try to access my files I receive the following message;
D:\documents and settings\ray\userdata is not accessible. Access denied. I
get a silimar message for any of my files. I would like to transfer my
contacts list, favorites, and email to the new Outlook and Internet Explorer
but this too is denied. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

If you hadn't encrypted the data files (and marking a folder
private is something completely different from encryption), you may be
facing nothing more than a simple permissions issue. Have you tried
taking ownership of the old folders?
