Cannot access documents and settings on C drive

I reinstalled windows xp home and during the
reinstalltion of upgrade installation received the
following error,"Title Bar displays, unregmp2.exe - entry
point not found, msg is as follows, The procedure entry
point getiums could not be located in the dynamic link
library MSDART.DLL." This msg stops the upgrade/reinstall
process.

My drive is partitioned into C, D, E. I successfully
installed to E. Now when I go to C: I can access and copy
all files or directiories except for "documents and
settings\scott. I receive an access denied or a drive is
write protected or in use message. There are mission
critical files that I need to get of of this drive ASAP
or quicker. I do not want to reformat and start over
until files are copied.

Have run chkdsk /r and that was fine. Still cannot access
the folder.

I am thanking you all in anticipation of some dearly
needed help.

I've got the same problem...I tried to reinstall (repair)
and could not get XP to reinstall...kept hanging.

I also reinstalled on D drive with success. Windows is
now up and running, but I can't access Documents And
Settings either!

I have a TON of files in there I need to get out!
HELP!!!!
