Can someone help me please. I canno access any FTP sites. Where a friend
gives me the exact link for me to download pictures, i get an error page
saying that the page is unavailable (the one where it says site maybe be
experiencing technical difficulties, maybe my browser settings etc). I've
ried several sites to test, and the same error page comes up.

I have not changed any settings. My internet options in advanced is ticked
to view ftp folders. I cannot access even when i disable my firewall.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

specs: XP Home, IE6 and service pack 2.

Thanks

So what happens when you FTP to *OTHER* sites, like
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/ or ftp://ftp.symante.com/? If those work then
your friend is NOT giving you the correct URL to his pics.

Nero

IF the ftp address contains a user name and password then it will not work
as XP SP2 will not allow it.

Unless you use some registry settings to enable that feature again. There is
Microsoft KB article, which tell what registry settings must be done, but I
don't remeber the article number.

Lisa,

Open your <My Network Places> folder.
In <Network Tasks> click on <Add a network place>
You should get a popup screen with an icon <Choose another... ...,or FTP site>
<next>
copy-paste your friends link
(something like:
ftp://your_inlog_name:your_password@IP_adress/
or
ftp://IP_adress)
<next>
the rest speaks for itself.

Worked for me. Good luck,
