Cancelling Multiboot and Uninstalling W98

After installing W2K Server on a W98 platform and converting the partition to
NTFS, I find that I can no longer start W98 .. which is fine. But how do I
get rid of (uninstall) W98 and the multiboot feature to regain unusaed disk
space? Can I simply delete the c:\windows folder or does W2K server use
some of those files in addition to those in the c:\winnt folder? Thanks in
advance ... John

Delete c:\Windows and run this command to remove the
Win98 boot menu item:
notepad c:\boot.ini

Delete c:\Windows and run this command to remove the
Win98 boot menu item:
notepad c:\boot.ini

boot.ini is usually readonly/hidden/system.

The safer thing to do is:
Go to Control Panel/System/Advanced tab, then 'Startup and Recovery'.
Change the default operating system to the one you want.
Either uncheck 'Display list of operating systems', or change the delay
to a short time.

boot.ini is by default hidden/system but not read-only.
Notepad will happily open and save it.

Sorry but you might want to review this

"Click to clear the Read-only check box, and then click OK"

As I said before: The read-only attribute is NOT set by
default in boot.ini, only the hidden and system attributes.
If it happens to be set by the user then it needs to be cleared
as explained in your article. Have a look at a default installation
and see whether it is set by default or not!
