Can you use auto text without using F3 in Vista?

After saving the auto text you want to use, is there any way to just type in
your shortcut and when you hit the space bar it fills in the text? I know
this is how it worked in Word before. When I hit F3 to fill in the text, it
also starts a new line. I am trying to use this for transcribing documents
and I need a way to quickly type in long medical words (having to hit F3
every time slows me down) and continue on with my sentence.

Well, not exactly - when you pressed Enter the AutoText would "fill in the
text":) Unfortunately that capability has been taken away in 2007 so you
have to rely on the F3 key.

However, you may be confusing AutoText with AutoCorrect... If it's feasible
you might want to use that instead so that something like tns would be
replaced (AutoCorrect-ed) to tonsilectomy when you press the spacebar, type
end punctuation or Enter.
