I just bought a new Dell with SP2. I rebuilt the OS with the provided disk
but SP2 is slipstreamed into the install.

How can I uninstall SP 2 so I can install SP 1?

TIA

Hi

With a slipstreamed installation that is not possible...

If it was slipstreamed onto the disc, you can't. It's part of the OS now.

Also, all SP1 fixes are part of SP2. I know SP2 causes some problems with
some applications, but it's far better to grin and bare it than to take a
step backwards. The SP2 changes - and more - will be in every Windows OS
from this point out. May as well deal with the issues now instead of
later...

Just my $0.02.

do a search for unistalling xp sp2 in microsoft knowledge base. I am sure
there is an article for that.

Hi

Yes, it is, but it does not cover uninstalling SP2 from an OS
installation where SP2 is slipstreamed into it.

Your PC came with XP version 2. You cannot downgrade it. Think of it
this way. Lets say
you got a windows SE CD and put it on a pc. You cant downgrade that 98SE
to 98.
