Can you un-activate XP

My question is can you unactivate XP so you can put it on
another computer so you won't have to buy another copy ?
If it's going to only be on one computer anyways we
should be able to unistall or deactivate it and install
it on another computer. Is this possible ?

Deactivation, or unactivation, is not possible. If you want to install
it on another computer the steps are pretty straightforward. First
uninstall or remove XP from the computer it is on. Then install XP on
the second computer. At the end of the install activate XP. First try
activating over the internet as that may well succeed, depending on one
or two factors. If that fails and reports that XP is already activated
on another computer, try activating again but this time choose the
option to activate by phone. You will be presented with a toll free
number to call. There you will either go through an automated process,
or if that doesn't work you will have the opportunity to speak with a
rep who can give you a new activation code for the new PC.

In addition to the others who answered your questions, you should be aware
that if you have an OEM version of Windows XP you cannot transfer it to the
new computer. Only a full or upgrade version that is not OEM will allow you
to transfer to a new machine.

You can remove it from the first machine to install on a new one -
provided it is a retail copy and not one of he OEM ones that comes with
hardware at a lower price and is licensed solely to the machine where
first installed. Install it on the new machine, and When it comes to
activation, you may find it will go through on the net anyway - if more
than 120 days since you last did it certainly will. If not, you will
have to phone a toll-free number that will be given, to explain and swap
one long number for another to check back as you type it in
