Can you protect certain sections of a Word Table from Change?

I posted this question last week and have not heard an answer.

Can you protect certain parts of a Word document and allow other sections to
be unprotected for data entry, like Excel?

Can you protect certain sections of a Word Table and allow data entry into
the unprotected sections of the Word Table?
 
Yes, you must create "form fields" for those areas that can be changed and
then lock the document to protect the other parts of the document
