Can XP Pro run on external/USB drive?

Hello,

Currently I have XP Home running on my little laptop which I use for
developing ASP.Net websites. That's fine because I publish to an IIS Server
at my clients' ISPs.

But now I'm looking to start using IIS on my laptop and for that I need to
run XP Pro. However, I don't want to kill my existing XP Home environment
that's already set up on my laptop (I've been using it for nearly a year and
I just can't contemplate reinstalling all the software I use).

So I'm wondering if it's possible to install XP Pro on an external USB drive
that I can plug in and dual-boot?

Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Justin
