Hello all,
I am trying to see if xp embedded is the best solution for my problem.
I am running a bunch of little windows 2000 computers all over the country.
These computers only mission in life is to start up, run a no-ip.com client
and then run windows media encoder.
Thats it, the problem is that the comptuer needs to have a user input from
the keyboard and mouse in order to shut down (i.e. the user has to shut down
the system via the start menu, and then windows media encoder will not shut
down without the user confirming it). This means the computer has to have
keyboard, mouse, and Monitor in order to run. This makes the entire system
much more bulky than it has to be, and also opens the door to users messing
up the system by chaing the setting.
What I would like to do is have a boot cd, or write only flash drive to run
the system, running xp embedded. That would mean when the time comes to
shut the system down all they would have to do is kill the power, and not
have to worry about currupting the hard drive. But, I do not know if the
software (no-ip.com client, and windows media encoder) will even run on
windows xp embedded, or if my solution is even a good idea.
Any advise is appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob
