can u upgrade Win2K to WinXP with full version of XP disc?

I have two computers that have Windows 2000 on them; however, I would like to
try to upgrade them to Windows XP Pro. I have the full versions of the disc.

But when I put the discs into the drive, it pops up and states that it's not
compatiable or something for upgrade. Is this true?

Thanks!!

OEM XP can't upgrade.. you require the full or upgrade retail boxed version
to do that.. you can, however, do a clean install having saved all of your
important stuff..

Also note that only one installation per CD is allowed..

Adam did say in his posting that he did have the full version - should it
not upgrade even an OEM version?

Only a "Retail Upgrade Version" or a "Retail Full Version"
of Windows XP can perform an upgrade over an existing
Windows installation. Virtually all OEM versions are
"Full Versions" but are not capable of upgrading...
"clean install" only on a freshly reformatted drive.

Therefore, the OP will need to purchase either a "Retail Upgrade
Version" or "Retail Full Version" (boxed versions) of Windows XP Professional
in order to upgrade over an existing Windows 2000 installation.

The fact that the OP was given no upgrade path suggested that he had an OEM
version..

To clarify to all:

It is an OEM disc (2 of them). I not trying to upgrade from Windows 2000 Pro
to Home (it was Professional XP). I was using two copies.

Thank you for all your input.
