Can the Registry be replaced in Win2K and WinXP like it could bein NT 4.0?

I remember being able to use a command on NT 4.0 to force it to replace
the Registry with a "virgin" copy, as it is when the OS is first
installed. I was told this was for debugging purposes during the
development cycle but MS (thank goodness) chose to leave it in the
production release.

I think the command was: setup /d (/d for debug mode?)

It would be great if that could be done in Win2K and WinXP. Could have
saved me some complete reinstalls. Sure, you end up with orphaned
application files, at least till you reinstall them, but that beats
wiping the drive and starting over!!
