What does a scan in Safe Mode with a current version (not earlier than
2003) antivirus using updated definitions show?

Svchost is the program that regulates how programs connect to th
internet.
It sounds as though you have some spyware or malware on your PC.

I would like you to go here and download the following programs fro
the links I post

Adaware SE :http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
SpybotS&D : http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html

Install those 2 programs and get their updates and run them.

with spybot S&D , don't forget to immunize your system after th
update
and then do scan

Another file that you should get ,that prevents the installation o
Malware
is SpywareBlaster from Javacool : http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/
again get the updates and run it.
