If I browse the Network Neighborhood from any of the computers on my home
network I can see the names of the other computers but I cannot browse their
resources... Windows Explorer just hangs. However, if I access the remote
computer by typing in its IP address (e.g. \\192.168.2.11), I can browse it
fine.

More info...
I have a home network with 4 computers running Windows XP Pro. They are
connected via a Linksys WRT54G router using CAT5. One of the computers is
connected to the router via a Linksys switch. I also have a Samsung laser
printer with a wireless networking card. All machines but one have been
assigned a static IP address and I have enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP on all
machines with a static IP. The static IPs are below the DHCP range set in
the router. If I do ipconfig /all on any machine it says the node type is
"Unknown". I have SP2 installed on all machines but I have turned off the
Windows firewall. I'm not sure when this problem started, but it may have
been after I added another computer to the network. One of the computers is
on all the time and I have set it to be the preferred master browser (but
only after this problem surface)... but this has not cured the problem. I
have turned of all computers and then turned them on again, starting with
the master brower. I've done a lot of Googling and tried a lot of things!!

it could be the name resolution or master browser issue. can you ping the
remote computer by name? what do you get is using net view \\remotepcname?
